Athletic department gets check from special fundraiser

Today, at the Notre Dame campus, Trey Skalnek ’07 (NDP), of Skalnek Ford in Lake Orion, presented a check for more than $3,700 to athletic director Betty Wroubel. The funds were earned by the school’s athletic department as a result of hosting this year’s edition of Ford Motor Co.’s Drive One 4 UR School event. The event was sponsored by the NDPMA Athletic Advisory Council and organized by the Notre Dame Booster Club. Texas Rangers Select NDP Pitcher Shilling

Notre Dame right handed pitcher Luke Shilling was selected in the 20th round (588th overall) by the Texas Rangers in the 2015 MLB draft.  Shilling joins Brother Rice outfielder Nick Plummer, who went 23rd overall to St. Louis, and Grant Wolfram from Hamilton High School as the only other Michigan high school players to be selected. ND Prep uses hot offense to grab ninth-consecutive D2 district title

PONTIAC – Those screech marks in Pontiac are from all that burnt rubber. Humming with the finely-tuned precision of a pristine race car, host-Pontiac Notre Dame Prep zoomed to a ninth straight Division 2 district title on the softball diamond Saturday, smacking a total of 27 hits and outscoring its’ competition a combined 20-4. After blanking Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood 10-0 in the semifinals, the Fighting Irish beat Birmingham Marian 10-4 in the district championship game.
