The Notre Dame Competitive Cheer team earned its tenth consecutive state finals appearance, posting a score of 785.04 and taking second place at the Regional competition held at Grand Blanc High School.
The Irish started strong at the meet earning a 236.0 in the opening round ahead of Charlotte with a 233.60 and Monroe Jefferson with a 231.60, but slightly behind Richmond with a 236.90. The Irish strengthened their standing in round two with a score of 230.40. Richmond held first with a 231.68; Charlotte stayed in 3rd with a 226.58 and Monroe Jefferson in 4th with a 225.50. Notre Dame performed well in round three, earning a 318.20 and finishing with a total of 785.04, but the total was not quite enough to surpass Richmond’s ending score of 789.08. Notre Dame took second place honors ahead of Charlotte with a 770.48 and Monroe Jefferson with a total of 768.50.
The Irish head to the DeltaPlex in Grand Rapids, on Saturday, March 2nd (6:00 start) fixed on a sixth consecutive state title. Notre Dame will compete against the cheer teams from Richmond, Monroe Jefferson, Charlotte, Paw Paw, Comstock Park, Alma, and Escanaba.
