Girls Take 3rd, Boys Finish 7th at Groves Invite

This past Saturday the Notre Dame Boys and Girls Track teams competed in the Groves Invitational, their first invitational of the season.  The girls team placed 3rd, tied with Farmington Hills Harrison, and the boys team placed 7th. The girls team was led by senior Claire Bolden, who placed 4th in the 100m dash (12.98) and 2nd in the 400m dash (59.33).  Bolden was also part of the 2nd place 4x400m relay along with sophomore Maddie Scherle, senior Lauren Kavanagh, and sophomore Lauren Neiheisel. Neiheisel made the most of her 800m run, finishing 2nd in 2:25.69.  Also medaling and scoring points for the Irish was freshman Lexie Case in the 1600m run, finishing 5th in 6:00.67, and senior Jessica Ratliff, placing 5th in the shot put with a toss of 29’ 2”.  Senior Chanel Dore rounded out the scoring with a 4th place finish in the discus with a throw of 78’ 2”. On the boys side, senior Nathan Mylenek lead the 1600m run from start-to-finish with a time of 4:27.19.  Mylenek was followed by junior Brendan Fraser, who placed 2nd with a time of 4:34.58 after out kicking a runner from Brother Rice to the finish line.   Also scoring points and medaling for the Irish was junior John Paul Terzano, placing 4th in the discus (128’ 6”), and senior Mathew Durkin, 5th in the high jump (5’ 9”). In relays, senior Brendan O’Sullivan,senior Andrew Durkin, senior Patrick Anger, and Matthew Durkin combined for 5th place in the 4x100m relay.
