The Notre Dame Varsity Baseball team opened their 2018 season with a 10-9 win over Sterling Heights Stevenson. The Irish took a 10-3 lead into the 7th inning and were able to hang on as the Titans, ranked #8 in Division One in the MHSBCA preseason poll, made things close with a string of hits combined with a few Notre Dame errors.
The Irish offense finished with 16 hits on the day, led by Jack Krausmann and Ryan Knutson with three each. Wade Bonnici finished with three RBI while Brad Blakeslee, Will Baldwin and Josh Fischer added two hits a piece.
Krausmann picked up the win on the mound, yielding three earned runs over four innings of work. Krausmann struck out two and also helped his own cause with two RBI. Jacob Genord threw two innings, giving up an earned run and recording two strikeouts. Notre Dame is back in action on Wednesday as they host L'Anse Creuse North.
