Notre Dame finished 3-1-1 at the Battle Creek Lakeview tournament over the weekend, an invitational featuring many of the top teams in the state of Michigan. In pool play the Irish earned wins over Portage Northern (25-12, 25-12) and Battle Creek St. Phillip (25-19, 25-23) and also battled to a 1-1 draw with Holt (18-25, 25-23). Notre Dame would earn a rematch with Holt in the quarter-final round and advance past the Rams 27-25, 25-21. However, Notre Dame would not advance past the semi-final round, falling to perennial Class A power Temperance Bedford 25-18, 25-21. Offensively, the Irish were led by a pair of freshmen in Maddie Chinn and Natalie Risi, who combined for 50 kills, and a pair of seniors as Emma Kowalkowski and Marisa Ciszewski added 73 total assists. Defensively, Kowalkowski (58 digs) and Risi (43) set the pace. Kowalkowski (20 points), Olivia Juliani (18), and Ciszewski (12) were solid from the serving line for Notre Dame.
