Notre Dame Varsity Volleyball remained undefeated at home as the Irish extended their win streak to 13 matches and improved to 23-5 by defeating both Troy Athens and Bloomfield Hills in straight sets.
In the first match against Athens the Irish took early leads in the first two sets and never looked back but briefly trailed early in the third set before stringing together a series of points to take control of the set and match 25-10, 25-9, 25-11. Maddy Chinn had a match-high nine kills to go with four points, an ace and 11 digs. Natalie Risi chipped in eight kills, 10 serving points, a pair of aces, and 11 digs. Freshman Aly Borellis had seven kills, 14 points, three aces, 10 assist and eight digs. Olivia Kowalkowski racked up six points, an ace and 14 digs while Bianca Giglio had six points, two aces, three kills and a pair of blocks.
Notre Dame took on Bloomfield in the second match. The match saw a series of runs by both teams with Notre Dame prevailing 25-17, 25-9, 25-22. Risi led the Irish with 11 kills, 12 serving points, three aces, two blocks and seven digs. Fellow Miss Volleyball finalist Chinn added 10 kills, nine serving points, two assists, four blocks and 11 digs. Borellis continues to have a great start to her high school career adding eight points, 17 assists, a block and five digs. Kowalkowski led all servers from the line scoring 16 points, three aces, and 16 digs while Maria Famularo had three kills, five assists, three blocks and 15 digs. Emily Mohr continue her dominance at the net with six blocks.
