Notre Dame improved to 12-2-1 overall as the Irish swept a home quad from Country Day, Troy Athens, and Stoney Creek without dropping a set. The Irish started play by defeating the YellowJackets of DCD 25-17 25-16. Senior standout Emma Kowalkowski was solid on defense and at the serving line, scoring 8 serve points and digging up 11 attacks. Sophomore Gabby Shilling led the offense with 7 kills while senior Marisa Ciszewski collected 22 assists and 5 service points. The second match saw Notre Dame down Troy Athens with a pair of 25-10 scores. Once again Kowalkowski had a terrific match as she scored 22 points, including 7 aces against the RedHawk defense and added 8 more digs. The offense featured a much more balanced attack with three Irish hitters, freshman Maddy Chinn, Shilling, and freshman Natalie Risi all collecting 6 kills. Ciszewski scored 9 points. The final match of the day pitted Notre Dame against Stoney Creek, who had also defeated DCD and Athens, and did not disappoint. The first set saw 21 ties or lead changes before the Irish finally pulled away with a 25-23 win. The Irish went on to take the second 25-15. Kowalkowski continued to dominate at the service line with 7 points. She also added 9 more digs to her team leading totals (141). Senior Olivia Juliani had a season high 8 digs. Risi led another balanced attack with 8 kills while Chinn added 7 and senior Jackie Lopez had 5. Risi was also solid on defense as with 7 digs. Senior Erica Schwegman collected 44 assists on the night. The Irish are off until Saturday when they participate in the Lakeview tournament.
