The Notre Dame Varsity Competitive Cheer team was victorious again at the Lake Orion Invitation and Warren Woods Tower Invitational, bringing home two more first place honors as they close out their pre-tournament schedule.
At Lake Orion, Notre Dame opened with over a three-point lead in round one, scoring a 234.9 to lead Monroe Jefferson and Armada. Round two was close but the Irish maintained their lead, earning a score of 226.8. Monroe Jefferson earned a score of 226.82 and Armada fell further into third place with a score of 217.42. Notre Dame closed the competition with a strong round three, scoring a 317.80 for a final total of 779.50 to take first place honors. Second place Monroe Jefferson finished with a total of 773.12. Armada ended the day in third.
On February 9th, the girls were ready to travel to Grand Rapids for the annual Deltaplex meet, but the competition was canceled due to severe weather and a wide spread power outage. The Irish instead entered into the in the Tower Invitational at Warren Woods Tower High School and responded with great effort, earning another first place victory.
Competing against D3 schools including Armada and Marine City, Notre Dame came out very strong scoring a 238.10 in round one, the highest round one score posted by any D3 team during this entire season. The Irish posted another great score in round two (231.36) climbing over 20 points ahead of Armada and Marine City. The Irish struggled in round three due in part to injuries forcing unexpected line-up changes, but still pulled out a clear victory with a score of 304.90 and a grand total for the day of 774.36. Second place Armada ended with 754.94 and Marine City landed in third with a 704.82.
Notre Dame begins MHSAA Districts this upcoming Friday at Yale High School.
