The Notre Dame Girls Varsity Volleyball team finished 1-2 in an annual quad meet with Oxford, Lake Orion and Clarkston.
In the opening match the Irish defeated Oxford is three sets, 25-19, 19-25, 15-13 to extend their winning streak to 61 matches going back to the 2017 season. At the service line, the Irish were led by Josie Bloom’ with 11 points and two aces. Bloom also added 10 digs in the match. Natalie Risi, Bianca Giglio and Maria Famularo each had seven kills while Risi added two blocks, eight assists and nine digs. Aly Borellis added eight assists and Olivia Kowalkowski had a team-high 19 digs.
In the second match of the day Lake Orion topped Notre Dame 25-19, 25-20 to end the Irish win streak. Famularo scored five points from the service line and added four assists and six digs. Risi again led the attack with nine kills, eight assists and four digs.
In the final match of the evening Clarkston hung on to hand Notre Dame a second loss 25-15, 16-25, 15-11. Kowalkowski had seven service points including three aces, to go with 11 digs. Risi served up five points and added two more aces to her team leading totals. Risi also had 10 kills and nine digs while Famularo had seven points, an ace, 18 assists and nine digs.
The 8-2 Irish will travel to the Macomb Dakota tournament this weekend.
