The Boys Track and Field team finished 5th out of 22 teams at the Mark Carpenter Invitational at Divine Child High School this past weekend. In the process, the Irish set a meet record and junior Nathan Mylenek was named the meet’s MVP for the second consecutive year. Mylenek led the team with a first place finish in the 1600m run (4:26.17) followed it up with a third place finish in the 3200m run (9:58.97). Mylenek was also the anchor on the meet’s winning 4x800m relay team consisting of junior Aidan Schurig, senior Ryan Obear, and senior Joshua Fullerton. The team’s time of 8:11.53 set a new meet record and was only five seconds off the Notre Dame school record. Also scoring points for the Irish in individual events were Obear (4th, 2:04.00) and Schurig (5th, 2:04.54) in the 800m run, sophomore Brendan Fraser (4th, 10:01.50) in the 3200m run, and John Paul Terzano (5th, 119”10”) and Eric Leduc (6th, 119’1”) in the discus. In addition to the 4x800m relay, the Irish also scored in the 4x400m relay with a fourth place finish. The team consisted of senior Jermaine Johnson, senior Killian Kosik, Schurig, and Obear.
