Junior Nathan Mylenek and senior Andrea Pangori earned All-County recognition at last Friday’s Oakland County Championships. Mylenek won the 1600m run to become the Oakland County Champion and Pangori was runner-up in the high jump. Mylenek ran the fastest and smartest race of his career, using a second surge in the race to edge an Oak Park runner at the line in 4:19.11, less than a half-a-second from the school record. Mylenek also medaled in the 800m run with a seventh place finish at 1:58.87, also a career best mark. Pangori was the Oakland County runner-up in the high jump after matching her career best jump of 5’4”. Pangori continues to chase the school record of 5’5” with one meet to go. The boy’s 4x800m relay team of senior Joshua Fullerton, senior Killian Kosik, senior Ryan Obear, and junior Aidan Schurig also medaled with a sixth place finish and a time of 8:14.85. Sophomore Brendan Fraser completed a career best in the 3200m run at 9:47.12, just missing a medal opportunity in ninth place. On the girls side, sophomore Dana Pangori, senior Lauren McGrath, freshman Lauren Neiheisel, and freshman Claire Seitzinger medaled in the 4x800m relay with a time of 10:07.84. McGrath also turned in a career best performance in the 800m run, finishing in 2:22.57 to finish tenth in the event. Notre Dame Prep will send 13 athletes to Saturday’s MHSAA Division 2 State Finals at Zeeland East High School in Zeeland, Michigan.
