Notre Dame Varsity Volleyball (29-2-2) won its third tournament of the season, going undefeated at the Berkley Bear Invite.
The Irish opened the tournament by handing West Bloomfield a 25-14, 25-9, 25-22 loss. Olivia Heming had a strong serving game, scoring 15 points including 5 aces. Natalie Risi had 9 points (5 aces) to go along with 7 digs. Gabi Shilling led the offense with 13 kills while Maddy Chinn added 9. Taylor Raiola collected a team high 6 blocks and Lauren Burnick and Megan Galvin dished out 20 and 17 assists respectively.
Notre Dame then defeated Farmington in the final match in pool play 25-12, 25-20, 25-10. Raiola was strong in all aspects of the game,e serving 12 points, 3 aces, 8 kills, 2 blocks and 10 digs. Shilling continued her strong play with 11 kills and 3 blocks. Risi added 14 kills and Chinn had 9 kills.
In the semifinal match the Irish came away with a 25-11, 25-17 win over Farmington Harrison. Risi Notre Dame with 12 points, 2 aces, 8 kills and 8 digs. Shilling collected 9 more kills and 2 more blocks while Raiola added 9 kills. Burnick had 26 assists in the win.
The championship match saw Notre Dame top South Lyon East 25-17, 25-10. Audrey Damman was outstanding on defense with 11 digs to go along with 9 points from the serving line. Raiola added 5 kills and 13 digs, Shilling had 8 kills and 2 blocks, Chinn had 7 kills and Burnick added 22 assists to her team leading totals.
