Notre Dame Takes Brighton Invite to Start Season

The Notre Dame Varsity Volleyball team opened its season by taking the Brighton Invitational held at the Legacy Center.  

The Irish went 2-0-1 in pool play, picking up wins over Chelsea (25-16, 25-15) and Brighton (25-18, 33-31) and splitting with South Lyon to earn a first-round bye.  In bracket play Notre Dame defeated Dexter and Saline to earn a second match up with South Lyon in the finals.  The Irish came away with a 25-13, 25-18 win this time around to secure the title.

Maddy Chinn led the way for Notre Dame with 61 kills, 39 service receptions and 35 digs while Natalie Risi had 34 service points (11 aces), 47 kills, 12 blocks, and 43 digs. Taylor Raiola (27 service points, 31 kills, 43 digs), Maria Famularo (47 service points and 41 digs) Lauren Burnick (119 assists and 28 digs) also had big days for the Irish in the tournament win.
