Notre Dame Tops Fruitport to Reach Final

Notre Dame Volleyball broke a school record for most wins in a season as they defeated Fruitport 25-15, 25-9, 25-14 in the MHSAA Class B Semifinal.  The win  improved the Irish record to 63-2-2, breaking the 2013 state championship season record of 62 wins.

Natalie Risi and Maddy Chinn carried the Irish offense with 19 kills each. Risi hit a sizzling .900 in the first set  and .486 overall while Chinn hit .621 for the match. Risi also added 5 service aces and 7 digs. Taylor Raiola (12 digs, 1 block and 4 kills) and Gabi Shilling (4 blocks) did a tremendous job of freezing the Fruitport middles to open a seam for the Irish outside hitters. Lauren Burnick did a great job distributing the ball to the open hitters and had 10 digs.
