Runner Take Part in Homecoming 5K

The Notre Dame Cross Country team hosted and participated in the 5th annual homecoming fun run/walk for alumni, family and friends. The two-loop course started on Giddings road near Walton, circled the main campus and finished in the lower division parking lot. Runners and walkers were able to pass by the new greenhouse, growing gardens, outdoor learning circles, robotics plaza and the new turf baseball and softball diamonds.

The total distance of 5 Kilometers (3.11 miles) is equal to the distance of a traditional high school cross country race. Captain James Ohlsson was the overall male winner of the race with a time of 16:08, only one second off of a personal best. Captain Lexi Case was the overall female finisher with a time of 19:29. Assistant cross country coach Stan Guest was the number one alumni finisher with a time of 21:48. In total, there were 87 participants that finished the race despite freezing temperatures and high winds in the morning.

Next up for the Irish is the competitive Northern Michigan Championship in Gaylord, which includes 37 schools from throughout the state.
