Track Teams Top Cranbrook on Senior Day

On Senior Day, the Boys Track and Field team beat Cranbrook-Kingswood, 75-53, while the girls team also won, 67-61.  For the boys, a Notre Dame athlete took first in 10 of 16 events, including a clean sweep in three events.  Individual event winners included senior Chris Wardlow (long jump), junior Jean Paul Terzano (discus), senior Andrew Durkin (110m hurdles), senior Matthew Durkin (100m and 200m dashes), junior Brendan Fraser (1600m run), senior Aidan Schurig (400m run), senior Nathan Mylenek (800m run), and sophomore Niko Fraser (3200m run).  In relays, the Irish won the 4x100m. On the girls side, Notre Dame grabbed a win in 11 of 16 events.  Capturing first place for the Irish were sophomore Maddie Scherle (long jump), senior Jessica Ratliff (shot put and discus), sophomore Lauren Neiheisel (1600m run), senior Claire Bolden (200m dash and 400m dash), sophomore Claire Seitzinger (300m hurdles), freshman Lexi Case (800m run), and freshman Bridgette Joslin (3200m run).  Notre Dame also won both the 4x100m relay and the 4x800m relay. Prior to the meet, the coaching staff honored the program’s seniors and their parents in a brief ceremony.  Coach Barbee remarked, “Thanks to all of you seniors who have done so much to make this program what is today.  You will always be a part of the Notre Dame Prep track family.”  Both teams will be in action this weekend at invitationals in Saline and Algonac.
