What Parents Need to Know About NDP/MA Athletic Boosters
Do you have a son or daughter that plays a sport for Marist or Notre Dame? If so, you are a member of the NDPMA Athletic Boosters Club. Click here to review the club constitution and bylaws.
For the 2007-2008 school year, the Athletic Boosters contributed $45000 to the athletic department. Where does this money come from? These funds are earned through concession and spirit wear sales, the golf outing and other fund raisers throughout the year. Boosters also help with fields, equipment, salaries for coaches - just about everything athletic. Even more importantly, the Booster Club is responsible for organizing volunteers to work all athletic events, saving the school thousands of dollars that would have to be paid to staff these events if parents didn’t help out.
As a member of the Booster Club, you are required to work athletic events. There are several ways you can meet this requirement:
1. Work three events per athlete per sport. The average time investment is between 6 – 8 hours over the course of a sports season.
2. Be a Team Parent Captain for a non concession sport and report the number of events worked toward a player’s booster commitment. In exchange for this, a family’s commitment for all athletes is met for a season. Parent Captain Job Description
3. Be a Team Parent Captain for a concession sports. The captain organizes volunteers for each event and reports the number of events for each player’s booster commitment. In exchange for this, a family’s commitment for all athletes for all seasons is met. Parent Captain Job Description
4. Buyers are needed for winter and spring sport seasons. This entails maintaining inventory for concession items sufficient to cover all sporting events. Typically, this involves once a week trips to Gordon Food Service. Again, this is an attractive opportunity for parents of multi sport, multi athlete families.
If you prefer to not work events and let the Boosters know at the beginning of the sports season, your account will be charged $50 per event at the end of each season. If you don’t work your required events and don’t notify the boosters, the fee will be $75 per event.
How do you sign up? If you are willing to be a team captain, please let the coach and the Boosters know (VP of NDP Kim Huttenlocher or President Mike Durkin). To sign up to work an event, review the athletic calendar at: www.highschoolsports.net and contact the team captain for that event. These events are great ways to meet other NDPMA families.

Remember, we are all in this together! We want NDP/MA to have great sports programs. If we share the work, we can make this happen without having to resort to “Pay to Play” as so many schools have been forced to do.
Thanks!!!!!
