International Baccalaureate
Beginning this fall, Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy, with campuses in Pontiac and Waterford, will be offering a curriculum centered on the International Baccalaureate Programme, a rigorously academic program that leads to the globally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
The IB Programme is derived from an independent, non-governmental, non-profit educational organization. It is a recognized leader in the field of international education, encouraging students to be active learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged world citizens. Founded in 1968, the IB today works with nearly 2,000 schools in 124 countries to offer and develop its three challenging programs to approximately 200,000 students ranging in age from 3 to 19.
The following describes the three IB Programmes at Notre Dame: The Diploma Programme (DP - for 11th and 12th grade); the Middle Years Programme (MYP - for grade sixth through 10th); and the Primary Years Programme (PYP - for junior kindergarten through fifth grade):
