With 12 minutes remaining, Senior captain Katrina Stencel picked up a loose ball and banged home the second tally of the game for the Irish and put the game out of reach. Alex Arnoldy was string in goal getting her 4th shutout of the season. Coach Jim Stachura said " It was a tough win for us today. We didnt play our best but we were good enough to win." Asked why they had such a rough go of it he said " They are one of our toughest rivals... On my side they are my alma mater, and their coach and I played together in college so we have that competiton... We just know each other very well and how the other one thinks".  The Irish move to 8-2-0 and 5-2-0 in the CHSL. Livonia Ladywood 2, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 1 (April 14, 2011) At Livonia Ladywood , the much anticipated match between the Ladywood Blazers and Irish started out fast as the Irish took a 1-0 lead only 32 seconds into the contest. Freshman Taylor Timko took a diagonal service from junior Jenn Klei and volleyed the ball past the helpless Blazer keeper. 2 minutes later Timko almost put NDP up 2-0 as she received another diagonal service from senior Katrina Stencel and struck a ball that caromed off the crossbar and out. The Blazers would strike back though with a breakaway in the 8th minute to knot the score at 1-1. The rest of the match was back and forth as both teams struggled to contain the others weapons on  offense. The Irish almost went up 2-1 in the 65th minute when captain Stencel beat 2 players through the middle of the park and struck a bullet that seemed destined for the top corner of the net, but the Ladywood keeper had other thoughts, deflecting the ball off her fingertips and off the crossbar. The game looked to be going to a tie when with 3:46 left Ladywood took and errant clear by the Irish defense, and scored on a 30 yard bomb into the top of the net. The score would not change and the Lady Irish fell 2-1 to the Blazers. The Irish move to 6-2-0 going into spring break and look to meet Ladywood again in the CHSL semifinals.

Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 5, Warren Regina 1 (April 12, 2011) The Irish faced another CHSL challenge on tuesday night at home, welcoming Regina to NDP. The game started off fast with the Irish holding solid possession. In the 20th minute though junior Jenn Klei snuck behind the Regina defense and laced a ball past the keeper to put the home squad up 1-0.  With 10 minutes left, a breakdown in the Irish defense left a player open in front for Regina and the score was knotted at 1-1. NDP continued to pressure and was rewarded what would be the game winner with 00.8 seconds left in the half on a goal by freshman Taylor Timko. As the second half started, it was obvious the goal at the end of the half killed any momentum Regina had tried to bring for the second stanza and the Irish added 3 more goals. Junior Ana Gomez scored a brilliant goal with her head, and Timko and Senior captain Katrina Stencel also tallied in the half. Stencel also added a pair of assists. Assistantt coach David Lepore said after the game, "The girls finally clicked on offense tonight and our young players in the back rose to the challenge. Things could have gotten tough after conceding that tying goal but they stuck with our game plan and it showed."  Head coach Jim Stachura added, "I think the key is our training habits right now. We are trying to become less predictable on the offensive side and take pressure off our defense by creating havoc in the opponents end. It has been working thus far."  Stachura also cited the senior leadership of his captains as a major role in the teams early success.  "We talk all the time about building a winning culture and using each other to get to our goals this season. The girls are really taking it to heart and without each one accepting and doing what they can to fulfill their role we wouldnt be 6-1 right now."  The Irish take their 6-1-0 record to play at Livonia Ladywood at 5:30pm thursday before a 10 day spring break layoff.

Notre Dame Prep 4, Divine Child 1 Hot start continues for Notre Dame Prep (The Oakland Press, April 8, 2011)

Notre Dame Prep 1, Mercy 0 (April 25, 2011)  The Irish overcame a physical Mercy team and rough field conditions to score a 1-0 victory in a CHSL matchup Tuesday.  The first half was a tight affair, with Mercy holding the edge in possession and chances as the wind was proven to be a big factor in hindering the NDP defensive clearances.  Although th Irish played hard, they lacked the rhythm to get their offense goign.  Coming out of halftime with a few positional adjustments, the girls exploded in teh Mercy zone, putting the Marlin defense under pressure immediately.  The hard work paid off when senior captain Lauren Jbara slotted a ball into space for senior captain Katrina Stencel, who outran the sweeper and calmly finished the first realy good chance of the game for either team.  After the Irish goal, the game became more physical with a sense of urgency from both sides.  The Irish appeared to get another goal with 15 minutes left from freshman Taylor Timko on service from Stencel, but the referee deemed the close play offside and negated the goal.  The final 10 minutes were a dogfight with both teams getting chances to score, but a strong defensive effort by Alex Genord, Savanahh Baumgart, Erica Scaccia and Alexa Cannon thwarted the Marlin attack.  Goalkeeper Alex Arnoldy was solid in goal and earned her 3rd shutout in 5 games.  Arnoldy may have saved the game for the Irish with a diving save on a deflected shot with seconds remaining in the first half.  The Irish move to 4-1-0 on the season an dare preparing for another CHSL tilt at home Thursday vs. Divine Child at 7:30pm.
