Art Club
JK - Grade 5
This lunch-time club meets on a weekly basis during the intramural period. Students have the opportunity to work on special art projects with the Marist art instructor throughout the school year!
Band
Grade 5
Students in 5th grade have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument. This beginning band class meets three days a week during the intramural period under the direction of the Marist music educator.
B.I.G. Belonging, Involving, Growing
Grades 3-5
Students work on developing leadership skills and learn about making positive, healthy life-choices. Students also lead several community service activities throughout the school year. Parent volunteers facilitate this lunch-time club.
Chess/Checker Club
Grades K-5
This lunch-time club meets on a weekly basis during the intramural period. Students enjoy playing chess (or checkers) and work on perfecting their game with the help of Marist educators.
Christian Service Projects
The school sponsors several service projects throughout the year to benefit charities and to help others in need.
Cinco de Mayo Celebration
May 5th
All students and faculty participate in this wonderful day filled with fun and celebration! After creating classroom murals and floats, all grades spend an exciting afternoon moving through organized stations of special activities, crafts, games, and foods. Marist educators and parent volunteers facilitate this day, which is planned and organized by the Marist Spanish educator.
Concerts
All Marist students JK- 5 participate in the Christmas Concert and Spring Concert!
Computer Club
Grades JK 5
This lunch-time club meets on a weekly basis. Students play computer games, complete projects, or practice computer skills during the intramural period under the direction of a Marist educator.
Field Day
All Marist Academy students and faculty participate in this fun-filled day in June. Students compete in well-planned outdoor field activities and games. Students also enjoy a wonderful lunch provided by the Parents Club.
Field Trips
Marist students & teachers enjoy several educational and fun field trips throughout the year!
LEGO League
Grades 3-5
Lego League is an interactive program that excites students about science and technology as they master teamwork and problem-solving skills. The team engages in the process of building, programming, and testing robots capable of completing various missions. This club is coordinated by parent volunteers and meets on a weekly basis.
Garden Club
Students, teachers and parents help cultivate and maintain a garden on school property. The garden is a place where students and staff can come to relax and reflect, and learn about gardening and nature!
Irish Week
All students and faculty enjoy this fun spirit week in March. The weeks activities include a scavenger hunt, weekstakes questions, St. Patricks Day Liturgy, door decorating contest, Irish week games, a free pizza lunch, and more! All grade levels compete to see which class has the most school spirit!
Math Club
Grades K-5
Students enjoy interactive problem-solving games and many other fun activities with numbers. This club meets every other week during the intramural period and is facilitated by Marist parent volunteers.
Mackinac Island Trip Gavels to the Grand
Grade 5
This is an exciting overnight excursion to Mackinac Island. Students and chaperones stay at The Grand Hotel, tour forts and hear speakers from the Michigan Supreme Court. The trip is chaperoned by Marist educators and fifth grade parents.
National Geographic Bee
Grade 5
This educational outreach program is a nationwide contest sponsored by National Geographic World. Fifth grade students compete in an exciting school competition. The winner completes a written test and if their score qualifies, they will advance to the regional level.
Oakland Press Spelling Bee
Grade 5
Fifth grade students compete in a school spelling bee, held in the gym. The winner will advance to the regional final where he/she will compete against other area winners at Oakland University.
School Newspaper SCRIBES
Grades 3-5
This writing club meets twice a month during the intramural period to produce a monthly school newspaper. Students learn journalism procedures under the direction of parent volunteers.
Ski Club
Both Prep and Academy novice and experienced skiers enjoy skiing at a local ski resort once a week after school.
Spanish Club
Grades JK 5
This exciting club meets after school every other week. Students enjoy many fun activities and projects lead by our Marist Spanish educator and parent volunteers.
Student Council
Grades 3-5
Students who enjoy the challenge and excitement of planning student activities and strengthening their leadership abilities should consider running for a Student Council position in the fall. Student representatives and officers meet every other week throughout the school year to plan fun activities for the school as well as Christian Service activities.
Talent Show
Grades 3-5
Students in grades 3-5 have the opportunity to share a five-minute presentation of their talent. This is a very enjoyable evening for Marist students, staff and families!
Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl
Grade 5
This fun, team building activity is for students in grade five. Over one hundred Michigan computer teams compete annually. One week prior to the event, entrants receive the official contest disk of 100 multiple-choice questions. Categories include history, spelling, math, science, current events, sports and geography. Speed and accuracy build the highest score.
