Girls swimming & diving had their best finish in school history at the state finals. They scored 81 points which is an all time high for NDP. 3 school records were set, including Mullen in the 500 Free (5:27.42), the 400 Free relay and the 200 Free relay of Stephanie Rutila, McInerney, Mullen and Chesley (1:42.11). Mullen finished 12th in the 500 Free and 16th in the 200 Free to earn Second Team All State honors in both events. Hoff finished 16th in the 500 Free to earn Second Team All State honors.
Notre Dame Prep scored 81 points to finished 12th at the MHSAA Division III meet. Marin McInerney finished 7th in the 100-yard Backstroke and 9th in the 200-Free to lead the Irish. McInerney was also part of two relays teams that finished in the top ten. The 200-Free relay of McInerney, Stephanie Rutila, Kaleigh Mullen and MacKenzie Chesley finished 10th overall while the 400-Free relay of McInerney, Chesley, Mullen and Payton Hoff finished 5th overall. Notre Dame Prep will be competing in the MHSAA Division III Swim Championships at the Holland Aquatic Center November 19-20. The Irish are sending several swimmers to the finals including Marin McInerney (10th 200-Free, 8th 100-back stroke), Kaleigh Mullen (11th 500-Free), Stephanie Rutila (10th 50-Free) and MacKeznie Chesley (12th 100-Butterfly). The Irish 200 and 400 free style relay teams are ranked 2nd and 5th respectively. The Irish opened the season on Saturday August 25 in the Kenzie Classic at Howell High School. Kristin Howdyshell earned two state cuts in the 200 IM (2:20.57) and the 100 Fly (1:03.31).
Mike Weaver has been named the new girls swim coach, taking over for Ken Roeske. Weaver, who graduated from Michigan State University, has six years of high school coaching experience in the Haslett and Avondale school districts. (August 10, 2007).
