LANGUAGE
The Language assessment involves the generally accepted rules that are used in writing and English. In the spelling section, the students must recognize misspelled words. In the sections on capitalization and punctuation, students will identify errors that appear in each of several sentences. Students must recognize the correct use of words in a sentence in the usage area. In the last part of the Language test, the student's writing will be examined.
MATHEMATICS
The Math Concepts area of the test deals with such topics as numbers and number sentences, geometry, measurement, and fractions. Students will solve story problems and interpret data presented in graphs and tables. The test includes problems in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers.
