Foreign Exchange Students

Notre Dame welcomes non-diploma seeking foreign exchange students who wish to have an educational and cultural experience at our Upper Division. A foreign exchange student will be identified as a student under the age of 18 who wishes to attend school at Notre Dame for a minimum of four academic weeks to a maximum of one academic year. A Notre Dame foreign exchange student must have pre-arranged housing, as well as transportation to and from school on a daily basis. (Foreign exchange students are eligible to ride a Notre Dame bus to and from school at the established rate.)

To apply, foreign exchange students will be required to provide academic records from the last two years, student evaluations completed by their current teachers, and a score for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) taken within two years of the application submission date. Once received, Notre Dame will evaluate all materials and determine whether or not to invite the student to complete the application process, including online application and Skype interview.

If accepted, a foreign exchange student will be required to pay full tuition based on the amount of time he/she will attend Notre Dame, will receive no credit for the courses taken while enrolled at Notre Dame (though, upon request, Notre Dame will furnish a letter describing the courses taken), and will not be eligible to receive student support services, such as counseling (career, college, pastoral, or personal), tutoring, media center services, and financial aid.

Please contact Ms. Kala Parker at kparker@ndpma.org for more information.

Notre Dame will reserve the right to definitely or indefinitely suspend the enrollment of a foreign exchange student who exhibits behavior out of line with our school mission.
