Notre Dame Marist offering international program, diploma

  • PONTIAC – The seeds to grow Notre Dame Marist were planted shortly before 1994 when the Archdiocese of Detroit asked the Marist priests and brothers to start a school at the former Pontiac campus of Oakland Catholic High School.

Notre Dame Prep is on a roll, again

    While Country Day volleyball is trying to make a name for itself, the more established Pontiac Notre Dame Prep squad keeps showing why it’s a contender to win a Class B state title.

    The Fighting Irish went out to the west side of the state this past weekend and won the Holland West Ottawa tournament, in the process ending two-time defending Class A Jenison’s five-year title run at the tournament.

    Notre Dame Prep beat Hudsonville, ranked No. 8 in the state in Class A, in the quarterfinals, ousted No. 4 Jenison in straight sets (25-10, 25-21) in the semifinals before beating West Ottawa in straight sets (25-14, 25-17) in the final.

    Catherine Wieczorek had 45 kills, 12 blocks, 38 digs and 18 points, Lindsay Kander had 41 kills, 54 digs, 29 points and 17 blocks, Destiny Tolliver had 61 kills and 22 blocks, Dalton Tolliver had 31 kills and 18 blocks, Katie Bloomgren had 63 digs and 45 points and Mary Kate Zinn had 79 assists and 33 points on the day for the Fighting Irish (29-2-2).
