The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame Preparatory and Marist Academy this week once again celebrated "Irish Week," which began in the school Monday as a week-long celebration of the school's Irish heritage/nickname. The tradition actually was initiated years ago at Harper Woods Notre Dame, a school managed by the Marist Fathers and Brothers who currently sponsor NDPMA in Pontiac.
Irish Week 2017 included special activities, liturgies, hall decorations and concluded with Wednesday-Thursday athletic-and-skills competitions between classes called the Irish Games, which pit class against class in a series of games that have ranged in the past from Balloon Stomp and Duct-Tape Challenge to Plunger Relay and Arm-Wrestling.
One of this year’s special Irish Week contests was the Sing-Off, which pitted five singers from the four classes in Notre Dame’s upper division against each other to see who gets judged the best. All twenty of this year’s singers are members of the school’s choir program, which is directed by Dave Fazzini.
The singers and their videos are below.
At the school's middle and lower divisions, students participate in their own version of the Irish Games.
Kate Leithauser, Evan Wells, Reid Gaboury, Carla Hanna and Matt DeAngelis
Sara Avery, Gabi Bendtsen, Joel Wiegert, Tyler Rowe and Katie Wacker
Patrick Convery, Alex Cousins, Chloe Fazzini, Faith Knill and Camilla Munaco
Mina Kambakhsh, Dana Pangori, Tessa Magsoudi, Jacob Mancinotti and Carl Wacker
