A large and eclectic array of media and talent is on display in the main lobby of the school's Pontiac campus, with special emphasis on a number of International Baccalaureate program student-artists.
Sandy LewAllen is chair of Notre Dame’s art department. “This exhibition will showcase another great aspect of this school and the type of students we have,” she said.
A reception for the artists, families and friends will be held on Monday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m.
Student-artists from Notre Dame picked up a school-record 27 Scholastic Art Awards in a ceremony held in February at the Detroit Film Theatre.
The art earned awards from the Southeastern Michigan Region of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition, which featured more than 5,000 pieces of art from the region.
NDP student-artists earned 13 Gold Keys, the highest possible distinction in the annual art awards, which was started in the early 20th century by New York City-based Scholastic Corporation. In addition, seven Silver Keys and seven Honorable Mentions were earned by Notre Dame artists.
The school exhibition is open daily during school hours.
