COMPUTER EDUCATION
We utilize The CyberSmart! Curriculum along with the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) Performance Indicators Junior Kindergarten – Grade One - Use input devices (mouse, keyboard) and output devices (monitor, printer) to successfully operate computers
- Learn appropriate terminology for computers (mouse, keyboard, monitor, printer)
- Use developmentally appropriate resources for directed and independent learning (interactive books and other educational software)
- Introduce Microsoft Office Suite
Grade Two – Grade Three - Introduce keyboarding techniques
- Understand basic issues related to responsible use of technology (Internet)
- Use Microsoft Office Suite for writing/communication, spreadsheet creation, and publishing
- Introduce the Internet as a research tool: search engines, databases, and dictionaries
- MLA* rules for formatting research papers introduced to Grade Three
Grade Four – Grade Five - Develop proper keyboarding techniques and short cut keys
- Continue to understand issues related to responsible use of technology
- Use Microsoft Office Suite for writing/communication, spreadsheet creation, presentations, and publishing
- Use the Internet as a research tool: search engines, databases, and dictionaries
- Introduce the use of digital media
- Introduction and reinforcement of MLA* rules for citing sources used in research papers
