MUSIC
Beginning Band 6, 7
The purpose of this class is to teach students how to play a band instrument. Beginning Band focuses on: producing and recognizing a good tone, developing good practice habits, rhythm development, listening skills, teamwork, commitment, and performing. Students will be required to know and/or demonstrate a basic level of theory/performance. Performance at all concerts is required.
Intermediate Band 6, 7, 8
Students with at least one year experience. The purpose of this class is to teach students how to refine their musical skills. Intermediate Band focuses on: producing and recognizing a good tone, developing good practice habits, rhythm development, listening skills, analyzing forms, music appreciation, teamwork, commitment, performing, and school spirit. Students will be required to know and/or demonstrate an intermediate level of theory/performance. Performance at all concerts is required.
Advanced Band 6, 7, 8
Students with at least two years experience. The purpose of this class is to teach students how to refine their musical skills. Advanced Band focuses on: producing and recognizing a good tone, developing good practice habits, rhythm development, listening skills, analyzing forms, music appreciation, teamwork, commitment, performing, and school spirit. Students will be required to know and/or demonstrate an advanced level of theory/performance. Performance at all concerts is required.
Chorus 6, 7, 8
This course is open to all interested students. The class will cover the basics of music theory, ear training, and vocal production. Students will also be introduced to various aspects of general music such as music history and appreciation.
String Orchestra 6, 7, 8
Students with at least one year experience. This class consists of all string instruments (violin, viola, cello and double bass.) it is highly recommended that each student is studying privately with a qualified tutor. The central focus is directed to the knowledge, preparation, and actual performance of the finest string literature of all styles and periods. Performance at all concerts is required. |
