10 Key Questions for Parents to Ask

1. What colleges do most Notre Dame Prep graduates attend?

Notre Dame Prep sends large numbers of students to the University of Michigan (28 in the Class of 2005) and Michigan State University (50 in the Class of 2005). In addition, many of NDP's graduates attend prestigious universities in other parts of the county. Among the out of state colleges, Notre Dame Prep has graduates attending the University of Notre Dame (4 in the Class of 2005), Princeton, Harvard, Georgetown University, Cornell, the U.S. Naval Academy, and many other fine public and private universities.

2. How do Notre Dame Prep students compare to their peers on tests like the ACT and SAT?

The average ACT score for the Class of 2005 was a 25 (20.9 National Average).

The average SAT score for the Class of 2005 was 1239 (1026 National Average).

NDP students for the Class of 2005 earned more $6.25 million in scholarships.

3. What merit scholarships are available at Notre Dame Prep?

Notre Dame Prep awards scholarships based on the S.T.S. Placement Test. The scholarships granted to freshmen range from $500 to $2,000. The highest level scholarships are renewable each year based upon academic success.

The children of alumni from Notre Dame High School, Oakland Catholic, Pontiac Catholic, St. Michael, and St. Frederick also receive a 10% tuition discount.

4. Does Notre Dame Prep offer need-based financial aid?

Yes. Notre Dame Prep wants very much to help families of limited means in their pursuit of a faith-based, college-preparatory education. Therefore, Notre Dame Prep does offer a variety of need-based grants.

5. How often do students at Notre Dame Prep attend liturgy?

Notre Dame Prep and Marist Academy attend liturgy together once a month. Liturgy is also offered everyday before school in the school chapel. The NDP/MA community also begins each day and each period with prayer.

6. What are the requirements for community service at Notre Dame Prep?

Every student at Notre Dame Prep is required to complete 10 hours of service per year. Most students, however, exceed their service requirements. Last year, NDP students completed more than 10,000 hours of community service.

Several clubs at NDP require service in addition to the school requirement. The National Honor Society, for example, requires students to complete 10 additional hours of service.

7. What is the average class size at Notre Dame Prep?

Notre Dame Prep consistently maintains an average class size of around 24 students. With a nine period day and more than 150 course offerings, Notre Dame Prep has been able to maintain its commitment to giving every student the attention they need in each class.

8. Does Notre Dame Prep provide transportation to and from campus?

Yes. Notre Dame Prep/Marist Academy's current bus routes run every school day to the Oakland Twp./Rochester Hills, Shelby Twp./Rochester Hills, Clarkston/Lake Orion, and the Waterford/White Lake/Commerce areas. Transportation provided by NDP does include additional fees.

9. Does Notre Dame Prep offer Advanced Placement courses for students hoping to earn college credit?

Notre Dame Prep offers 18 Advanced Placement courses. Students can begin taking AP courses as early as their sophomore year and are encouraged to take these challenging, but tremendously valuable courses whenever possible. Last year, more than 300 students at NDP took an AP course (75% of whom scored a 3, 4, or 5 on the AP College Board exam).
