HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST - TESTING DATES 2007-2008
High School Placement Test: The HSPT provides NDP with measures in a student’s Verbal Skills, Quantitative Skills, Reading, Mathematics, Language, and Science. The test includes between 50-60 items per subject and is administered over approximately three hours. HSPT results are used to determine admission, award academic scholarships, and aid in the academic placement of students for freshman year.

Please note:
- While Notre Dame Prep offers alternate test dates, academic scholarships are limited to the test results for November and December.
- Notre Dame Prep does not accept retakes of the HSPT. If further testing is necessary, NDP will provide subject specific testing at a later date.
WHAT THE TEST MEASURES:
VERBAL ABILITY: This test samples how well you perform on reasoning tasks involving the use of words. Your ability in this area is related to your performances in languages, reading and various social studies.
QUANTITATIVE ABILITY: This test measures your ability to do reasoning problems involving numbers and quantities. This ability is related to performance in mathematics, sciences and other areas that deal with numbers and things.
READING: This test measures your ability to understand words, remember important ideas, comprehend what is read, and to make logical deductions. Since good reading habits and skills are essential to learning, thinking, and problem solving, this score is usually related to your success in school.
ARITHMETIC: This test measures your ability to perform normal arithmetic operations. Your score on this test tells you how well you are prepared to do high school mathematics. Calculators are not permitted.
LANGUAGE: Your score on this test is a measure of your knowledge of capitalization, punctuation, grammar and your ability to spell and use language correctly.
