Area teams show prowess at state ski tournaments — In a sport traditionally dominated by teams from up in the northern part of the state, county skiiers showed why southeastern Michigan is starting to catch up as a skiing haven.  Most notably though, the Pontiac Notre Dame Prep girls team became the first county team of any gender to win an MHSAA-sanctioned team state ski title, winning the Class B-C-D event with 119 points. The Fighting Irish finished in a tie with Iron Mountain, but won the tiebreaker.
