Today will be the Catholic League A/B final everybody was expecting to see. OK, not exactly. Both Pontiac Notre Dame Prep and Dearborn Divine Child scored upsets in Wednesday’s Catholic League semifinals and will meet for the title at Detroit Mercy today. Notre Dame Prep knocked off Farmington Hills Mercy, 2-1, on a walk-off home run in the 17th inning by Molly Coldren. Divine Child then recorded a stunning upset of Harper Woods Regina, 8-5, in the other semifinal. Game time is 6:00pm at University of Detroit-Mercy (Oakland Press, May 21, 2007).

Troy Athens Invitational — At Troy, Notre Dame Prep finished third by beating Andover, 9-5, Stoney Creek, 13-5, and falling to Lake Orion, 3-2. On the day, Molly Coldren went 8-for-12 with three home runs, 11 RBI and eight runs scored for Notre Dame Prep (20-7). Cara Pozolo went 5-for-9 with five RBI, and Katie Kowaleski earned a win and a save by posting an ERA of 1.16 on the day for the Irish. (Oakland Press, May 20, 2007)

Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 7-12, Madison Heights Bishop Foley 2-2 — At Pontiac, Stephanie Dalbianco doubled and drove in three runs and Katie Kowaleski struck out nine for Notre Dame Prep (17-6, 12-0 Catholic League AA) in the opener. Cara Pozolo and Molly Flajole each went 3-for-3 for the Fighting Irish in the nightcap, which lasted five innings. Bishop Foley is 7-17, 3-9. (Oakland Press, May 12, 2007)

Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 3-3, Dearborn Divine Child 2-0 — At Pontiac, Mollly Winowiecki went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI and Katie Kowaleski was the winning pitcher in the first game for Notre Dame Prep. In the second game, Winowiecki had two runs and an RBI and Stephanie Dalbianco had two RBI for Notre Dame Prep (16-6, 10-0 CHSL AA), which clinched the league title and an automatic berth into the league semifinals. Rolling along - Pontiac Notre Dame Prep trailed 2-0 in a game it would eventually lose to Birmingham Seaholm on Sunday, but junior shortstop Molly Coldren said the Fighting Irish are doing just fine this season. The Fighting Irish are in first place in the Catholic League. Coldren made a nice play in the top of the third inning, making a catch at short while fading into leftfield and then threw to first to double off the Seaholm runner. Notre Dame junior Kaitlin Kowaleski pitched in the game against Seaholm. (Oakland Press, May 6, 2007)

In the second game, Pozolo went 2-for-3 with two runs, Molly Coldren blasted a three run home run and Kowaleski was again the winning pitcher, striking out eight in five innings for Notre Dame Prep (9-3, 6-0 CHSL AA). In the second game, Coldren 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI, Pozollo went 2-for-4 with two runs, three RBI and a stolen base and Kowaleski went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Notre Dame Prep (2-2, 2-0 CHSL AA).

The Detroit News has named Molly Coldren as one of the top players in Southeast Michigan. Molly Coldren, Jr., SS-P, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep: Coldren hit .427 with six home runs and 26 RBIs. She also will handle the pitching chores. "Molly's an outstanding athlete," coach Betty Wroubel said. (Detroit News, April 19, 2007)

Molly Flajole had a pair of RBI for Notre Dame (0-2). In the second game, Amanda Hall pitched nine innings and struck out 10 while only allowing one run for Mercy (2-0).
