NDP Ranked #6 in Southeast Michigan (freep.com, December 26, 2006)

Molly Coldren has been named Dr. Pepper Athlete of the Week by the Oakland Press on December 21, 2006. At a tournament in Goodrich last weekend, Coldren, a junior, went 103-for-109 attacking, 40-for-43 serving, and had 52 kills, six blocks, six aces and 26 points in the tournament for the Fighting Irish.
Coldren and Niemczycki named top players in Oakland County: 4. Molly Coldren, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep jr. OH — Coldren earned all-state honors her first two years on the team and continues to improve each year. She is a fierce competitor, who demands the same from her teammates. Others to Watch: Nikki Niemczycki, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep sr. OH. (The Oakland Press, December 18, 2006).
NDP Ranked Third in Oakland County: 3. Pontiac Notre Dame Prep — This could be the year the Fighting Irish break through to the state semifinals after reaching the quarterfinals the last two years. Notre Dame returns 10 players, but will face a tough road in the state playoffs. The Fighting Irish’s district now includes Livonia Ladywood, and even if they get out of districts and regionals, Marysville will likely be waiting in the quarterfinals. Marysville has knocked Notre Dame out of the state playoffs the last two years and has won nine state titles in the last 10 years.
If the Fighting Irish are to break through, they will need another spectacular season out of junior OH Molly Coldren. Coldren was a Class B second team all-state selection last year as a sophomore and earned third team all-state honors as a freshman. Notre Dame will also need big contributions from senior OH Nikki Niemczycki, senior setter Kelly Bloomgren, senior MH Bethany Michelcavage and junior setter Brogan Wells.
“This group of kids outworks any group I’ve had in my 30 years of coaching,” Notre Dame coach Betty Wroubel said. “The kids know each other and they challenge each other to get better. I never have to yell or scream. They come in early on their own and are very focused. They are a fun group to be around.” (The Oakland Press, December 18, 2006)
Pontiac Notre Dame Prep opened the season on December 16, 2006 at the Goodrich Invitational. Molly Coldren went 103-for-119 attacking, 40-for-43 serving and had 52 kills, six blocks, six aces and 26 points, and Brogan Wells went 98-for-99 serving with 19 aces, 67 points and 52 assists for the Fighting Irish, who finished 5-1.
