Methods of Giving
Gifts of cash and checks are the most common and will allow Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy to address its needs immediately.
Securities such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds are excellent ways to support the Annual Fund and the Capital Campaign, particularly if they have appreciated in value. The full market value of the stock is tax deductible, not just the original investment cost. In addition, you can avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation of the stock.
Bequests may be made through your will and may include a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate.
Endowment Gifts help secure the future of the school while providing for important programs such as scholarships, financial aid and faculty development programs.
Life Insurance - You can name Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy as the beneficiary to either all or a portion of your insurance policy.
Real Estate - Gifts of appreciated real estate are similar to gifts of stock. If you have owned the property for 12 months or more, you avoid capital gains taxes and may deduct the fair market value of the property.
Charitable Lead Trusts are funded with an asset, such as appreciated property or securities, and the earnings are contributed to Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy for the life of the trust. When the trust reaches it termination date, the principal goes to your beneficiaries.
Charitable Remainder Trusts are similar to Charitable Lead Trusts as they are funded with an asset. The earnings are paid as income to you and your beneficiaries. Upon the death of the last beneficiary, the principal goes to Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy.
Business Gifts such as inventory, equipment, materials and cash can benefit Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy while providing a positive tax impact to your business.
Matching Gifts are often an option to employees or retirees of a company or corporation. Matching gifts are a great way to maximize the impact of your individual donation. Check with your company for additional details.
Reunion Gifts - If your class is celebrating a reunion this year, consider a gift to Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy, combined with other members of your class, to help make a difference for future generations of alumni.
Remember, all donations to Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy are tax deductible. The fiscal year ends on June 30th of each year. All gifts received by that date will be acknowledged in that year's Annual Report.
