Why did you choose Notre Dame?
I came to Notre Dame in 3rd grade because it offered a great education and fit my needs much more than my previous school. I’ve stayed here because of the family-oriented lifestyle and accepting nature of the staff and students.

How have you gotten involved in activities on campus?
I joined the theatre program in middle school, but eventually decided to move backstage. Ms. Scott introduced me to that aspect of theatre, and I've loved it ever since. I have also gotten involved in the art program. I took a leap into my art career and found my passion in it.

Which of your Notre Dame teachers has been one of your favorites?
Ms. LewAllen, my art teacher, has been the most influential for me. She is extremely passionate about her job. She pushes me as far as she knows I can go and is always doing what’s best for me and my future. Any criticism I get from her I immediately take in and work to correct. She has created a very comfortable space for me and my classmates to be in, and I feel comfortable asking her for help whenever I need it. She looks out for me not only in her classes, but also overall with my academics, extracurriculars, and well-being.

What’s been the best class you’ve taken at Notre Dame so far?
The best class I've taken has been IB Art with Ms. LewAllen. I was extremely nervous going into it and wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get through it, but it has been the greatest experience of my life. I have not only developed my art skills, but I've also developed as a person, diving into understanding who I am and why I am the way I am. Ms. LewAllen helps us put our true selves into our art. She allows for us to be independent, while still being someone to rely on when we need her. Her drive to help us succeed has driven me to create more goals for myself, and also has deepened my passion for art.

What was your favorite experience at Notre Dame Middle School?
My favorite memory was 8th grade graduation, not because I was excited to leave, but because I was able to do the presidential speech closing our middle school years. I spent time preparing for the speech and felt very confident sharing it with my class. I think back to that often because it is a great memory of mine.

What was your favorite experience at Notre Dame Lower School?
In elementary school I ran for student council in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. I ran for president as a 4th and 5th grader and won both times. This was a great accomplishment of mine and was something I found great happiness and success in.

Which Notre Dame staff member or coach do you have a special bond with?
Ms. Scott has been one of the most influential people in my life. From all the way back to 6th grade, Ms. Scott has always been there to help me. She cast me in plays from 6th to 9th grade until I expressed my interest in directing. She began guiding me through the ins and outs of the crew and stage managing position. She could see my potential from that very first day. I am so grateful that she saw my interest and never gave up on me. She began allowing me to be more independent in my work and branch out to find my passion. She asked me one day if I would like to run the sound for the shows. I was extremely hesitant and tried to find someone else to do it instead, but eventually I learned that this field was my passion. Ms. Scott could see that and has helped me grow in that area.

What experience have you had at Notre Dame that’s been a pleasant surprise?
I have found some of the best friends and experiences I could ask for by joining the theatre program. I started as an actor, but gradually, with lots of hard work, I am now the director of the middle school musical. This has been the best experience of my life.

How do you try to live the Notre Dame mission as a Christian, citizen and scholar?
I try to be there for others in times of need. I try to keep an eye out for my peers whenever I can to make sure they're happy. I've made it a goal to talk to more people so they feel comfortable where they are. I've made it a goal to compliment more people because I know I enjoy that and I hope they do too.

What advice would you give children and parents considering Notre Dame?
Notre Dame truly is a wonderful environment that has helped me grow as a person. I have developed my passions because I found the people here that respect and understand that my passions go further than what a university can offer. The teachers at this school have taken that in and pushed me to succeed further than I ever thought I could.
