In his latest update, Head of School Andrew J. Guest discusses work completed at the main campus this summer including a freshly paved parking lot, classroom updates, and resurfaced tennis courts as we prepare to welcome back students in August.
The following message was delivered to students at Notre Dame Prep after Mass on Ash Wednesday, Mar 3, 2022.
Have you ever heard the words, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”? Well, that’s not exactly true. Words can hurt us. In fact, sometimes words hurt more than physical pain. I want you to close your eyes and think for a minute. Can you think of a time that someone has said something to you that was very hurtful? How did those words make you feel? Pretty awful, I bet.

Recently the U.S. Surgeon General declared a national mental health crisis among youth in America. It is estimated that one in five children between the ages of 3-17 suffer from mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral issues and one in three high school students have seriously considered suicide. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the feelings of helplessness, isolation, and depression in our children these past two years, making the need for Marist vocations more important than ever.
