Two robotics teams from Notre Dame Middle School earn trip to world championships in Dallas.

Two VEX IQ robotics teams from Notre Dame qualified for the 2022 VEX Robotics World Championship, which will be held in May in Dallas, Texas.

At the 2022 Michigan Middle School VEX IQ Pitching In State Championship held yesterday at Grandville High School, the Notre Dame sixth-grade girls team of Sofia Arinez and Vanessa Artinian, who received a first-place ranking after eight qualification matches, teamed up with the second-ranked boys team, NDPMA's Anthony DiGrande, Christopher Artinian, Caden Staniszewski and Preston Schlachter, to earn an overall second-place finish.

That performance now qualifies the two teams to compete in the 2022 VEX Robotics World Championship presented by Northrop Grumman Foundation, which will be held in May in Dallas, Texas.

Louise Palardy, Notre Dame's STEM specialist, science teacher and manager of the school's robotics center, said she was proud of the Notre Dame teams.

"On top of all that, the sixth-grade boys team also qualified for the world championship by virtue of earning the 'Amaze Award' at Grandville for the design of their double catapult robot," she said.

Palardy added that two Notre Dame Prep high school teams will be competing today at the VEX Robotics Competition High School State Championship held at Kettering University in Flint.
