Notre Dame Prep's Killer Bees robotics team begins competition at 'Worlds' after outstanding performance in state championship.

Good luck to our Killer Bees FIRST Robotics team in Houston, Texas, as they begin competition today in the FIRST World Championship, the final and largest event of the season. Team FRC33 will compete in the Turing Division with elite teams from around the world for this ultimate celebration of STEM and innovation at the George R. Brown Convention Center in  the East Downtown area of Houston.

The Bees are coming off another stellar state championship performance last weekend, winning the Ford Division, but coming up just short in the champion alliance in the semifinals. The Bees finished the state competition at Saginaw Valley State University with a record of 17-4, while also winning for the third time this season the Autonomous Award, which celebrates the team that has demonstrated consistent, reliable, high-performance robot operation during autonomously managed actions.

A big congratulations also is in order for longtime Killer Bees mentor Tim Grogan, who won the Woodie Flowers Award at last weekend's state championship. This award is given to a mentor who exemplifies the core values of FIRST, and is nominated by their respective team. Grogan is not the first Killer Bee mentor to be recognized, joining fellow longtime mentor Jim Zondag with this honor. The Flowers award is a very rare honor, so having two winners on the team is truly special.

You can watch the Bees buzz to victory this week on the FIRST Robotics channel on Twitch.
