Building on the success of its 30-year history, Notre Dame Prep released a new, five-year strategic plan this spring. The plan reflects the school’s Catholic, Marist mission and articulates focus on the next few years.

The process began in January 2022, when the Strategic Planning Committee of the Board of Trustees reviewed the previous plan and made recommendations for improvement and growth opportunities. Then in the fall, school administrators, along with Independent School Management (ISM), surveyed and held focus group sessions with hundreds of alumni and parents as well as students in grades 5-12 and faculty and staff, who offered their feedback. A new plan was formally adopted by the board in April 2023 following a two-day planning session with board members, administrators, volunteer leaders and staff from the lower, middle and upper schools.

“This Strategic Plan is the result of a collaborative effort involving all members of our school community. This inclusive and transparent approach ensures that everyone has a voice in shaping the future of our institution, and it fosters a sense of ownership and commitment to achieving our shared goals,” said Head of School Andrew Guest. “Overall, this Strategic Plan is important because it sets the foundation for Notre Dame Prep to continue to thrive and serve as a beacon of excellence in education. It reflects our unwavering commitment to providing our students with the best possible education and preparing them to make a positive impact on the world as good Christian people, upright citizens, and academic scholars.”

The 2023-2028 Strategic Plan focuses on four strategic priorities: Embrace Mary’s Way, Develop Curious and Confident Thinkers, Deepen Our Culture, Stand ‘Strong and True’.

Each priority represents a core aspect of Notre Dame’s educational philosophy and outlines specific goals and initiatives to help the school achieve its vision through 2028 and beyond.

Academic excellence is at the heart of everything we do. Our teachers strive to provide students with the highest quality education possible, and our Strategic Plan is focused on continuing to enhance our academic programs and support services. This includes investing in technology and facilities, supporting students’ social, emotional and academic wellbeing, and providing professional development opportunities for our faculty.

Faith and character are also integral to our educational philosophy. Our Catholic faith and Marist values are woven into every aspect of our school culture. Our Strategic Plan includes initiatives to further develop diversity and inclusion policies and practices consistent with Catholic social teaching; expand retreat programs for parents, grandparents, alumni and friends; further define our portrait of a graduate; and support the mental, spiritual and physical health of students, faculty and staff.

We will also recommit ourselves to the Marist Way, answering the call as teachers and staff to “think, judge, feel and act as Mary” in serving others.

Finally, sustainable growth is essential to the long-term success of our school. The Strategic Plan includes initiatives to ensure the financial sustainability of our institution, such as fostering a culture of philanthropy to support the Notre Dame Fund, investing in the Alumni Association, and improving our facilities and infrastructure.

“We are committed to providing our students with the best possible educational experience that prepares them for success in the ever-evolving world. Our new Strategic Plan is a testament to that commitment, and we are excited for what the future holds,” Guest said.
