Alina Stanczak named high school Heisman school winner, now in the running for state and national awards.

Notre Dame senior Alina Stanczak was named a school winner for the nationally recognized High School Heisman Award. The senior was selected based on her outstanding academic and athletic achievements, and leadership within her community.

Stanczak now awaits results on whether she also will be named a state finalist, which could lead to national honors, typically announced during ESPN’s broadcast of the college Heisman Memorial Trophy presentation in December.

Eligibility for the high school Heisman begins with maintaining a GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better. Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community. And applicants must perform in at least one of the 47 school-sponsored sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations.

Stanczak is a four-sport athlete at Notre Dame as a member of the swim, track and field, cross country and softball teams for the Fighting Irish.

The 2021 Heisman High School Scholarship program presented by Acceptance Insurance is open to high school students graduating as part of the class of 2021. Student-athletes will have the chance to win up to a $10,000 college scholarship along with the possibility of attending and being highlighted during the ESPN televised Heisman Trophy Presentation Ceremony.

More on the Heisman High School Scholarship program:
The Heisman Trophy Trust and Acceptance Insurance through the Heisman High School Scholarship program recognize outstanding high school seniors nationwide who excel in athletics, academics and community leadership. Students can nominate themselves for the award online, in addition to being recommended by principals, teachers, guidance counselors and coaches. The most exceptional students are then selected to advance during extensive judging processes conducted at both state and national levels.
