Five-day camp sessions to begin July 19 and run through July 23 at the school's baseball and softball complex. Registration now available at

Detroit-area youth and young Tigers fans across the region are invited to register for the Detroit Tigers summer baseball and softball camps, presented by NIKE, which will run July 19 - 23 at Notre Dame's Pontiac campus. It's the second year that the school has been chosen to host the camps.

"After the first year, we were sold on it," said Betty Wroubel, Notre Dame's athletic director and assistant principal. "We found them to be very organized, with good safety protocols, and the campers learned and had fun. Major League Baseball, and in this case the Tigers organization, provided a great experience for the campers."

She said the experienced staff brought in by the Tigers in addition to Notre Dame personnel provide a highly structured program that truly meets the needs for campers of all ages. She said it's also a great way for the kids in their Tiger uniforms to imagine themselves playing for the hometown team.

"The fact that we have one of the premier baseball facilities not only in Southeast Michigan but across the state is another reason a major league organization like the Detroit Tigers wants to use our facility for camps," Wroubel added.

Detroit Tigers summer baseball and softball camps are open to boys and girls aged 6-14 and of all skill levels. Each camp will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday thru Friday of each session.

Weekly registration costs $395, with proceeds benefiting the Detroit Tigers Foundation and its mission of enhancing lives through the games of baseball and softball with a focus on youth, education and recreation. Discounts are available, including for families registering more than one camper at the same time. Registration is currently available at

The Tigers' organization says the health and safety of campers and staff is their top priority, and the club has developed a comprehensive plan that will continue to adhere to local and state guidelines — and Major League Baseball COVID-19 protocols.

“The Detroit Tigers are committed to inspiring the next generation of baseball and softball players and Tigers fans,” said Kevin Brown, director of community impact for the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings. “Under the direction of highly respected instructors, we’re excited to once again bring pro-level training and lifelong memories to children through the Tigers Youth Baseball and Softball Camps program.”

Detroit Tigers Summer baseball and softball camps provide participants 30 hours of instruction, an official Tigers uniform (jersey, pants, hat and belt), four tickets to a future Tigers game at Comerica Park, a graduation certificate and much more.

Camps are managed by Executive Director and veteran youth baseball camp director Tim Rappé. All camp instructors are SafeSport trained as required by MLB.

“We can’t wait to get back on the field for our third camp season. Helping kids get better at baseball and softball while creating an unforgettable Tigers experience for them is what we’re all about,” Rappé said. “We have a passionate staff, an innovative curriculum and a great lineup of sites all aimed at making the summer of 2021 a special time for campers on and off the field.”
