Ashley Lewis is an international representative in the UAW's women’s department and national vice president for the Coalition of Labor Union Women.

Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy announced today that Ashley Lewis has agreed to serve on the Board of Trustees diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) committee, effective immediately.

Lewis, who is the parent of three NDPMA students, will be an invaluable resource to a growing and critical board committee, according to Stephen V. Pangori, chair of NDPMA's Board of Trustees.

"I cannot think of anyone better equipped to serve as a member of our DEI committee," Pangori said. "Ashley is passionate and principled about diversity, equity and inclusion, and her range of experience within that space is truly impressive."

Lewis currently works for the United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) as an international servicing representative within the organization's women’s department. She is the youngest woman to be elected to her UAW Local 160 Union executive board and bargaining committee.

She previously served the union's membership in other numerous positions, including chair of the Region 1 Women’s Council, delegate to the UAW's 39th Constitutional Convention, alternate committeeperson, election committee chair and education committee chair. Currently Lewis volunteers as an instructor at the University of Michigan-Dearborn's Center for Labor Studies, and continues to facilitate workshops around southeast Michigan on runaway inequality. In addition, she serves as a national vice president for the Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW).

Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and currently is pursuing a Master of Divinity from the Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit.

A Detroit resident, Lewis is the mother of three boys, Elijah, a sixth grader in Notre Dame Middle School, and Isaiah, Pre-K4, and Noah, PreK-3, in Notre Dame Lower School. She is a member of Fellowship Chapel in Detroit and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., based in Washington, D.C.
