College Application Essay Workshop
Age/Grade: Grade 12
Date/Time: Session 1: 7/13-18, Noon to 3 p.m.
Session 2: 7/20-25, Noon to 3 p.m.
Where: NDP media center
About: Any student part of the Class of 2021 is welcome to attend this process-based camp. Students will write about themselves in a clear, concrete, honest and original voice. The focus of this camp will be to avoid generic, pedestrian writing in favor of a colorful and refreshing style that will stand out in quality and originality.
Forensics Edge: Speech and Debate Camp
Age/Grade: Grades 6-12
Date/Time: 7/27-7/31, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Friday concludes at noon)
Where: NDP classroom and grounds
About: Learning to present yourself well in front of others is an invaluable skill. Forensics is that skill, whether it is performing a dramatic interpretation, giving a speech, or debating your beliefs. In conjunction with the Eastern Michigan University forensics team, we are pleased to offer a skills workshop and coaching camp for students active in forensics competition, those interested in becoming proficient, or learners who just want to gain the skills to make every presentation, speaking activity, or writing project better. NDP Congressional Debate and Public Forum team members will work directly with their respective coaches on skill-building and tournament prep for the season. Lunch will be provided daily, and students will get a camp t-shirt. For active competitors, camp personnel would be happy to coordinate with your coach to begin selection and preparation of a new piece for the upcoming school year.

Where: NDPMA Cafetorium
About: Young actors will be introduced to playmaking, a process of making theater as an ensemble through creative play. Students will explore acting, storytelling, costumes, props, music and movement to bring a timeless folktale to life on stage. They also will learn how to sing, act and dance to a Broadway-style song. We will hold a showcase for family and friends on the final day of camp.
Age/Grade: Grades 6-11

About: Students will learn the basics of creating a strong character on stage and performing in front of a room of people. Students will explore acting, storytelling, improvisation, writing and scene work to grow as confident performers. They also will learn how to sing, act and dance to several Broadway-style songs through solo and ensemble work. We will hold a showcase for families and friends on the final day of camp.
Youth STEM Tech Camp
Age/Grade: Grades 4-8
Date/Time: 7/13-17, 9 a.m. to Noon
Where: NDMA classroom and grounds
About: This STEM-infused tech camp encompasses tinkering with a micro-computer, piloting drones, developing code, designing games, escaping a cybersecurity threat, creating video content, and learning about 3D printing, as well as a bit of robotics. Campers will be engaged to think critically, solve problems, and collaborate in a fun, creative and engaging learning environment. Participants will receive a mini-coding computer that will help them develop an interest in coding, engineering, game development and computer science. They also will receive a t-shirt. No prior technical skills required.
Middle School 101
Age/Grade: Grade 6 or new to Notre Dame Middle School
Date/Time: 8/4-7, 9 a.m. to Noon
Where: NDMS classroom and grounds
About: Any new student enrolled into Notre Dame Middle School—6th, 7th or 8th grade—is welcome to attend this camp. The purpose of the workshop is to provide interactive, hands-on experiences to allow students to socialize with each other, to begin making friends, and to provide organizational strategies to middle school. Furthermore, students will practice their locker combination, learn to navigate the campus, and enjoy some time together in a fun and relaxed setting.

Where: Held in E8 (in-person and virtual, synchronously)
About: Engage the growth mindset through this weeklong #hybridlearning camp setting. (Hybrid means that students may attend virtually or in-person at NDPMA) through the same, synchronous learning experiences. Each day, learners will explore a new online educational platform to unlock a wide variety of adventures to gain knowledge in personalized subject areas, such as coding, Microsoft essentials, and Google certification, as well as math, science, reading, and field trips.This experience can be particularly effective for students who struggle with online learning, but will provide them with skills to put themselves in the educational “driver’s seat” without being a road hazard.
