College Application Essay Workshop
Age/Grade: Grade 12
Date/Time: Session 1: July 12 - 16, 2021, 9am - 12pm

Where: A-14
About: Any student part of the Class of 2022 is welcome to attend this process-based camp. Students will write about themselves in a clear, concrete, honest and original voice. The focus of this camp will be to avoid generic, pedestrian writing in favor of a colorful and refreshing style that will stand out in quality and originality.
 
Forensics Edge: Speech and Debate Camp
Age/Grade: Grades 6-12
Date/Time: July 26 - 30, 2021, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Friday concludes at noon)
Fee: $275
Where: NDP classroom and grounds
About: Learning to present yourself well in front of others is an invaluable skill. Forensics is that skill, whether it is performing a dramatic interpretation, giving a speech, or debating your beliefs. In conjunction with the Eastern Michigan University forensics team, we are pleased to offer a skills workshop and coaching camp for students active in forensics competition, those interested in becoming proficient, or learners who just want to gain the skills to make every presentation, speaking activity, or writing project better. NDP Congressional Debate and Public Forum team members will work directly with their respective coaches on skill-building and tournament prep for the season. Lunch will be provided daily, and students will get a camp t-shirt. For active competitors, camp personnel would be happy to coordinate with your coach to begin selection and preparation of a new piece for the upcoming school year.
 
Theatre
Session 1:
Age/Grade: Grades 1-5
Date/Time: July 12 - 16, 2021, 9am - 12pm

Where: NDPMA Cafetorium
About: Creativity and fun are the focus of this camp!! Here we will introduce young actors to playmaking, a process of making theatre as an ensemble through creative play. Campers will explore acting, storytelling, costumes, props, music and movement to bring a timeless folktale to life on stage. They also learn how to sing, act and dance to several songs. There will be a final performance that will be filmed and uploaded to YouTube.
 
Session 2:
Age/Grade: Grades 6-9
Date/Time: July 12 - 16, 2021, 8:30am - 12:30pm
Fee: $160
Where: NDPMA Cafetorium
About: Take your training to the next level! Students will hone singing, acting, and dancing skills while learning exciting production numbers straight from the Broadway stage.  There will also be an exploration of character development through improvisational exercises and scene work.  The campers learn a mix of original work, monologues, poems, scenes, and songs, providing an opportunity for every personality to emerge. There will be a final performance that will be filmed and uploaded to YouTube.
 
Middle School 101
Age/Grade: Grade 6 or new to Notre Dame Middle School
Date/Time: Session 1: August 2 - 4, 2021, 12:30pm - 3pm
                     Session 2: August 4 - 6, 2021, 9am - 12pm

Where: NDMS classroom and grounds
About: Any new student enrolled into Notre Dame Middle School—6th, 7th or 8th grade—is welcome to attend this camp. The purpose of the workshop is to provide interactive, hands-on experiences to allow students to socialize with each other, to begin making friends, and to provide organizational strategies to middle school. Furthermore, students will practice their locker combination, learn to navigate the campus, and enjoy some time together in a fun and relaxed setting.
 
Youth STEM Tech Camp
Age/Grade: Grades 4-8
Date/Time: July 12 - 16, 2021, 9am - 12pm
Fee: $225
Where: Robotics Lab
About: This STEM-infused tech camp will offer tinkering with a micro-computer, piloting a drone, creating a video game, escaping a cybersecurity threat, creating video content, developing code to solve puzzles, and programming a robot to bring code to life. Campers will be engaged to think critically, solve problems effectively, and collaborate in a fun, creative and enjoyable  learning environment. Each learner will receive and keep their own mini-programmable robot ($49 Value)  that will help them develop an interest in programming, engineering, or other related STEM fields – even after the camp. No prior technical skills required.
 
Writing Fun in the Sun!
Age/Grade: Grades 6-8
Date/Time: June 21 - 24, 2021, 8:30am - 11:30am

About: A fun day-camp designed to sharpen your middle school writing and social skills. We will practice writing for a variety of purposes. Including: the writing process, MLA format, formal vs informal writing, email writing, poetry, directions, and more! We will also be engaged in fun, social activities that get students moving and interacting with each other. The camp is open to any ND Middle School student, grades 6-8 who wants to have fun and practice their writing skills. This camp includes a t-shirt!
 
EmpowerED Camp
Age/Grade: Grades 6-8
Date/Time: July 19 - 22, 2021, 9:00am - 12:00pm
Fee: $100
Where: Held in E8 (in-person and virtual, synchronously)
About: Engage the growth mindset through this weeklong #hybridlearning camp setting.  (Hybrid means that students may attend virtually or in-person at NDPMA) through the same, synchronous learning experiences. Each day, learners will explore a new online educational platform to unlock a wide variety of adventures to gain knowledge in personalized subject areas, such as coding, Microsoft essentials, and Google certification, as well as math, science, reading, and field trips.This experience can be particularly effective for students who struggle with online learning, but will provide them with skills to put themselves in the educational “driver’s seat” without being a road hazard.
