At the VEX Robotics Competition state championship for students 15 and younger, which was held Saturday in Monroe, Notre Dame Prep had three teams representing the school and all three advanced to the World Championship.

Team 3333B, "TechnoBacon," punched their Worlds ticket by making it to the semifinals on Saturday when they nearly upset the #1 seed. Coplin Serota's driving was one of the keys to their success as was Tomasz Kapusniak's programming along with the mechanical skills of pit crew Brady Rossmiller and Rory DeYoung.

Team 3333X, "X-treme Bot," consisting of ninth graders Krrish Patel (driver) and Patrick Riley (primary programmer) and seventh-grade pit crew, Will Platt, Chris Artinian and Caden Staniszewski, won the Innovate Award, which is given to the team that demonstrates "out of the box" thinking and unique solutions to engineering problems.

Team 3333M, "Hawaiian Rats," comprised of seventh graders Sofia Arinez (programmer/driver), Vanessa Artinian (pit crew) and Arwyn McCormick (pit crew/driver), won the Pit Decorating Award, but more importantly, advanced to the World Championship as a wild card, based on their driving and programming skills.

The world championship for this age group will be in Dallas, Texas, beginning April 27.

Last weekend, Notre Dame Prep's two VRC high school teams advanced to Worlds. So far, all five teams that competed at the state championships have advanced with two more state championship events to go.

Saturday, Mar. 11, the VEX IQ elementary state championship will be held for students 12 and younger. It also will be hosted in Monroe and NDP will have one team attending.

On Sunday, Mar. 12, at the VEX IQ middle school state championship in Monroe, Notre Dame Prep will have one team participating.

Congratulations and good luck, NDP roboteers!
